Objectives
After completing this course a learner will be able to:
- Identify different verities and types of paddy varieties
- Develop skills for seed preparation & nursery management
- Develop skills for field preparation and different methods of sowing
- Awareness and skills for different methods of sowing for direct sowing
- Understand the basics of soil testing, manuring, bio-fertilizer and in-organic fertilizers
- Identify the critical stages for direct sown and transplanted paddy
- Identify major weeds and their management in paddy
- Identify major insect, pests and diseases of paddy and their management
- Identify the right stage for harvesting of paddy
- Harvest paddy using different methods, threshing, drying, winnowing and packing
- Manage straw to minimize environmental pollution
- Identification of various implements use in paddy cultivation
- Develop entrepreneurship and marketing skills for paddy produce
- Maintain hygiene and safety practices at workplace
